Tonight’s the night at Kinneil

D52488 FOM SD (CS3)NIGHT at Kinneil Museum takes place tonight (Friday). The venue at the centre of historic Kinneil Estate will open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for a series of special events and activities – all part of the Scotland-wide Festival of Museums and the UK’s Museums at Night celebrations. Throughout the evening we’ll be giving away GOODIE BAGS for adults and children. Earlier this week we published a story on our efforts to sort out the goodies. We’ve also publicised some of the firms that have helped fill the bags, in particular Lidl Spar, Farmfoods and Scottish Fine Soaps:

We’ll also have entertainment from UNISON KINNEIL BAND – plus appearances from members of the Roman Re-enactment Group, THE ANTONINE GUARD. So bring your camera to get some photos. The museum has plenty of great displays to enjoy, plus a hi-tech audio visual room. But at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. we’ll be encouraging you to leave the museum (if you want) to go on a short history walk around the surrounding Kinneil Estate. For the more sedate, you can stay in the museum and talk to the Romans!

Historian  IAN SCOTT – chair of Falkirk Community Trust – will lead the talks. Hopefully the rain will stay off for both walks (but please bring suitable footwear and clothing – and take care on muddy paths). More about Ian’s walks here:  Take a walk with Ian Scott

The evening has been organised by The Friends of Kinneil, in conjunction with Falkirk Community Trust. As well as our local sponsors, this event has been supported with a Festival of Museums Grant from Museums Galleries Scotland. We’d like to say a big thanks to everyone who’s helped.
