Get ready for the Big Kinneil Bird Watch

Kinneil BGBW event poster (2)Come and meet the RSPB at Kinneil Museum in Bo’ness on Saturday, January 25 –  and get ready for the Big Garden Bird Watch 2014!

Practice your bird ID skills with a look through our binoculars, make enticing bird seedy cakes, and help find lost birds in Kinneil Estate.

A spokesperson for the RSPB said: “The Big Garden Bird watch is the largest wildlife survey in the world, help us make this the biggest year yet. It is also the RSPB’s biggest calendar event of the year and an exciting way of keeping tabs on the state of British wildlife. We ask people to spare just one hour over the Bird Watch weekend to count the birds in their garden or local park and every year thousands of homeowners and schools get involved. This means we can build up a detailed picture of the health of British birds.

“For the first time this year we are expanding the search, we’d like to know what other wildlife you have seen in your garden, from roe deer to frogs. So if this will be your first year on board then we welcome you at a very exciting time!”

Representatives from the RSPB will be at Kinneil Museum on January 25 to answer questions about the Big Garden Bird Watch and help local people brush up on the basics of garden bird identification.

So come along and find out how you can get involved. Kinneil Museum will be open from 12.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
